Crossings
Crossings is an open-world, top-down adventure/strategy game where you smuggle immigrants over the border for a living. Explore the border to find holes in the security, learn the surveillance patterns, bribe the border guards, and scavenge for equipment and tools as you try to smuggle over as many immigrants (and illicit goods) as possible to feed your family. Help people across rivers, through mountain passes, and over border fences to take them to their new lives — and keep your own.
Mission
You are a smuggler guiding immigrants across various types of terrain and obstacles — mountains, forests, rivers, etc — to make it to the border, all while avoiding the border guards and the border’s security measures.
Vision
Players begin in a starter town where the missions have smaller groups and smaller rewards as the player learns the game mechanics. The main routes to the border from the starter town are fairly easy, with only basic obstacles and fairly sparse guard patrol patterns. The starter area is also blocked off from the rest of the map by rivers which have unfinished bridges crossing them.
Objective
When the player reaches a certain level of experience (either by number of missions or total amount earned) the bridges are “finished” and the rest of the map is unlocked. From this point forth, progression is in the form of the tools bought by the player to assist in smuggling missions. Players can explore the playable area in search of towns for unique challenges, new tools and equipment, and more immigrants to help. The harder the mission, the more patrols there will be on the route, for an added challenge mechanism.

How do i acquire inventory items to use during the game?Walk up to the store, and click the 'Z' button to toggle the shop UI. Is there a limit to the number of immigrants I can smuggle at a given time?There is no limit to the number of immigrants you can smuggle simultaneously. Additionally, the player is able to hide in the bushes with as many immigrants as needed. Good luck managing a large group though

What are the controls of the game?Movement is done using the arrow keys Instruct immigrant to follow you : "X" Interact with shop / scale over fence / perform inventory action : "Z" Pause screen / purchase item from shop : "Mouse-click"

Why am I unable to jump over the fence with the immigrant?Immigrants are not able to scale fences, only walk down paths. Alternatively, you can use the wire-clippers inventory item to cut the fence and create a path that the immigrants can walk through.

Where do I find the immigrants that I should smuggle?In the tutorial level, the immigrant is located a few paces southwards of the initial spawn position. In the gameplay level, the immigrants are located within the town, which is a few paces northwards of the initial spawn position. To instruct the immigrant to follow, simply walk up to them and click the "X" keyboard button. The town within the gameplay level looks this:
